BOA managed on your remote server is good if you prefer to delegate all sysadmin and server maintenance tasks to experts, while still running everything on servers of your choice.
BOA hosted with us is perfect for highest possible security and scalability. You can focus on your own area of expertise and have all the rest delivered, and just working.
The fully Do-It-Yourself option is good if you want to use our 100% open source BOA stack on your own VPS, or if you don’t need the power of scalable on-the-fly environment.
By the way, did you know that even single hosted Aegir Engine has built-in CPU power and RAM auto-scalability which would cost you $960/month on Linode, just for the bare server? Yes, even single hosted Engine can safely go into stratospheric levels at 32 CPU Cores and 256 GB RAM for load and traffic spikes — free of charge. Your hosted Aegir cost depends only on your database, disk space and PHP-FPM workers needs.
Your Hosted system will be provisioned in 1-2 hours after the purchase, Mon-Sat. The provisioning process may be additionally extended with custom schedule if it involves importing remote Octopus instance.
Remote support includes autonomous, unmanaged, every 3 seconds uptime/self-healing, local and remote monitoring with Site24x7 (Advanced/Hands-Off), weekly standard updates for OS (Advanced/Hands-Off), daily security updates for OS (Advanced/Hands-Off), security and version upgrades for Aegir Hosting System when released (Advanced/Hands-Off) and default platforms when new BOA system release is available (Advanced/Hands-Off).
Both Hosted and Remote subscriptions cover also basic Aegir training and support in the first 30 days after the installation. Note that ongoing Aegir training and troubleshooting after the first month is not included. Drupal sites upgrades and general troubleshooting is not included. Non-standard Aegir or BOA customization and support is not included. All not included services are subject to either extended support hours and/or extended support subscriptions, billed separately, depending on your needs.
For Remote support we require a VPS with clean, minimal OS -- currently Debian 11 Bullseye or newer is required on your server, with no other services installed, besides SSH and optionally mail server. At least 4 GB RAM and 2 CPU are required (the more the better).
Supported virtualization systems include: Linux KVM, Linux Containers (LXC), Linux VServer, Xen, Microsoft Hyper-V, Azure Virtual Machines or VMware ESXi (but excluding vCloud Air).
All not included services are subject to either extended support hours and/or additional support subscriptions, billed separately, depending on your needs.
Existing Octopus/Aegir migration is free of charge with Remote and Hosted subscription paid at least quarterly, and otherwise requires a one-time-only (OTO) extra payment of €499. Migration can be scheduled with at least 5 days notice once purchased, to guarantee availability for preparations, migration and post-migration assistance, which typically takes 6-12 hours, depending on the instance size, with expected downtime of less than 10 minutes.
