For single sites with no active developers working on them we recommend to purchase the Extended plan initially for one month, and then switch to Basic for security only coverage. You can switch between these plans every few months or as often as you see fit, to optimize your sites maintenance cost.

For multisites / Aegir platforms or sites with active developers working on them we recommend either the Enterprise or Extended plan to make sure that there are no outstanding issues accumulating which could make upgrades problematic later.

Important Details

Your Drupal Support subscription coverage starts once the Onboarding Procedure is completed.

The Onboarding Procedure is covered by the one-time-only setup fee. It may be quick if the site is already running the latest or almost the latest Drupal core and contrib within its major Drupal version. However, when the site is several Drupal core and/or contrib versions behind, it may require a multi-step upgrade and debugging, thus extending the onboarding before the site is ready to be included in our updates workflow. The procedure may be additionally extended with custom schedule if it involves importing the site from elsewhere.

Since Drupal core and contrib updates require very different approaches depending on both core and contrib specifics and also depending on the way the code is managed by the site owner or developer, we are introducing Three Modes of Operation within all three service levels to choose from.

Firstly, to meet the requirements based on the site complexity including its dependencies on custom modules, there are Three Modes of Operation available: Fully Automated, Semi-Automated and Manual, so you can pick the service mode you find applicable for the specific site — extra add-ons may be required, depending on the plan.

Secondly, you can mix and match options to cover only core updates, both core and contrib updates, with further splits into security updates and versions updates — also further split into minor and major versions updates.

Furthermore, even the fully automated updates will include the individually configured site health monitoring to immediately detect any side effects so our responsible human admin could be notified and fix the problem within minutes. Obviously the higher non-automated levels include also human live assistance during the entire procedure.

Some of the options in this service levels matrix also support bulk updates to offer coverage for multisite configuration with many sites on the same codebase.

You can pick the best mode, level and coverage per site to meet its individual requirements.

As a general rule, the security and minor version updates may use patches or even replace vanilla parts of the code in-place, so without Aegir specific migration procedures, and will keep all changes in the local git commits for easy review and optional undo actions, but will not push the changes to any remote repositories if present, leaving this for the site developers / administrators / owners review and decision.

While we don’t have a direct access to Drupal security team, so the service is based on the official Drupal security announcements, our aim is to shorten the time between the announcement and the update as much as possible, to guarantee the “same-day” policy add-on for the security updates, if added to your subscription.
