Aegir and R1Soft backups rotation policy

?How can I access your managed R1Soft backups, what is the backup rotation policy and does it affect also backups created in the Aegir control panel or via Backup and Migrate module?

!We are running backups for all your files and databases daily. All backups are versioned and rotated, so there is always a copy of all your files from the last 3 days (rotated daily). Your daily databases backups are additionally stored on the same server and rotated there weekly, plus archived in your R1Soft storage, so there are always daily copies of all your databases from the last 3-10 (max) days available. Your Aegir built-in backups storage/directory (you have an access there via FTP and SSH) often includes not only the backup archives of all site’s files and databases created when you use the Backup task, normally used later to perform the Restore task easily. Often there are also many duplicate archives created on every site’s Clone or Migrate (and Rename) task. Note that every compressed archive includes all files from the sites/domain.name directory, plus the site’s database dump. Also the Restore task creates hot backup before using the backup archive of your choice, so it all can fill your disk space very quickly with many never needed archives. This is why we purge the built-in Aegir backups directory weekly, on Sunday. As a result, some backups will no longer be availabe for the Restore task – in this case we will restore those purged archives from your R1Soft storage (but only if they still exist there) on request, at no charge, when you need them. As for R1Soft CDP backups, there is no direct access, it is fully managed service so you are simply sending us restore request via our support form. Restore is a free service if used occasionally or paid at hourly rate $150 USD (in 15 minutes increments) if requested often and/or requires more than 15 minutes of work. You can also maintain remote backups using scheduled backups option in the Backup and Migrate module + rsync over SSH, initiated from another server or from your desktop computer, but note that you can’t use your Aegir system disk space as an archive space, so also all your archives created with Backup and Migrate module will be deleted weekly, on Sunday. Also any archives or files stored at your SSH/FTP user home directory level (so not in any site files directory level) will be deleted weekly.
